FAQ - About Baja PPG

Picture
Okay, all this sounds great but what about this whole Mexico thing, is it really safe?
I have never seen nor heard of a tourist being involved in a violent incident in the La Salina area nor on the trip south from the border.  When I walk my dog Silex, I don't lock my front door.  I feel completely comfortable and safe in the areas where we fly, live and come and go to the U.S. border.

How can you offer quality training at such a good price?
I love this question.  Not everyone wants to buy powered paragliding equipment before trying out and/or learning our sport.  So we make a little money from equipment rentals and our students do not need to make a big, up-front investment in gear.  We provide really nice living accommodations at a very affordable rate and make a little money from that.  Since we earn a small profit on the above-mentioned items, we can be highly competitive in the cost of the actual training.

If I bring my significant other, what is there for her/him to do?
Lots of things; golf, affordable day spa, hang out at the beach and/or swimming pool, tour the wine country, shop, hike, fish, kayak, play tennis, observe your training and more!

What will my room be like?
Rooms are private or semi-private and include high speed Internet, U.S.  Direct T.V. and you will also have access to the PPG video library, kitchen, family room and sun deck.  Your room rate a great deal since it also includes breakfast, happy hour & dinner.

What kind of food do you serve?
Adriana is a fantastic cook.  That being said we take a survey of our guests to see what specific foods you like/dislike as well as any dietetic requirements you may have.

Should I rent a car?
That depends in which other activities you, or your significant other, wish to participate.  If your mission is primary flying you probably do not need a rental car.

Can you pick me up at the San Diego airport?
Absolutely.

Should I bring my own equipment or rent yours?
If you are traveling to us via your own vehicle and you own your own equipment, you will probably want to bring it.  If you are arriving via airline you probably want to consider equipment rental.  There is a great likelihood that renting equipment will be less expensive and you do not have to worry about round-trip shipping.

Which equipment manufacturer do you represent?
We do not have exclusive relationships with any one PPG vendor.  We can provide you with virtually any kind of equipment at competitive prices.

If I do bring my own equipment how do I get it across the border into Mexico?
It's best if your paramotor is partially disassembled (cage and prop removed) so it does not look like an aircraft, you will probably not have a problem.   If possible a bill of sale for $100o or so would translate into a $150 duty assessed by Mexican customs.

What about getting my equipment back into the U.S.?
American customs have no interest in basic recreational equipment.

How many people will be in my training class?
Maximum class size is four.

What's the big deal about beach flying versus inland sites?
Since the wind direction is primarily "on-shore" we enjoy a smooth breeze from about 10:00 AM to after sunset.  Translation; you can rack up a lot of flight time at our location.

Do you have references?
We have many references and will be more than pleased to provide them to you.  Since we also have a lot of Website traffic, we need to "share the fun" among our previous students.  Please contact us at your convenience.
